KONG. M. 2632.

To the Crown Agents for the Colonies.

;

Gentlemen,

66

I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt

of your letter of the 11th inst. informing me that Mr.

T.C. Lofthouse has been dismissed for drunkenness.

I much regret to hear this.

At the personal interview I had, I formed a

favourable opinion of Mr. Lofthouse and this was con-

firmed by the interview I had with Mr. Bowden, so much

so, that I did not think it necessary to inour the

further expense of a visit to Hereford (vide my letter

of March 5th last).

I can scarcely think that Mr. Lofthouse is

an habitual drunkard, otherwise your Medical Adviser

would have detected this when examining him.

When next in the Midlands I will endeavour

to call on Mr. Bowden and discuss the matter with him.

I have the honour to be,

Gentlemen,

Your obedient Servant,

for Bhant Chalwriah
